Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost

HYMN: The Lord's my Shepherd

PRAYER

Read by Rev John Smith

Your voice burns within the depths of our being,
O God of our ancestors,
and draws us into your presence and service.
Hear the cries of your people and speak a word of comfort,
that we may proclaim to all the earth the glory of your name.

God of love,
Your Son gave us a new commandment,
That we should love one another,
Even as you love us,
The unworthy and the wandering.
Give us , O Lord,
In all the changes of life,
That we may neither complain in adversity
Nor boast in prosperity;
But with faith, hope, and love,
May follow your divine will
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

LESSON

Read by Hayley Stewart
Romans 12:9-21

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good;
Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing
honour.
Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with
the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the
sight of all.
If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God;
for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
No, "if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them
something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their
heads."
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

HYMN: Come Down, O Love Divine

Said by Rev John Smith

God of salvation,
who sent your Son to seek out and save what is lost,
hear our prayers on behalf of those who are lost in our day,
receiving these petitions and thanksgivings with your unending compassion.

Redeeming Sustainer,
visit your people and pour out your strength and courage upon us,
that we may hurry to make you welcome not only in our concern for others,
but by serving them generously and faithfully in your name. Amen.

PRAYER IN TIME OF CRISIS

Lord Jesus,
In the midst of a storm,
You said, ‘Peace, be still’.
Bid our anxious fears subside,
Sustain your church in faith, hope and love.
Bring our nation, and our world through this tumult.
Grant wisdom to those with heavy responsibilities,
And healing and hope to all those who are infected.
Amen.

HYMN: I Will Sing the Wondrous Story

BENEDICTION

Said by Rev John Smith

Come, Lord Jesus, we are open to your spirit, we await the fullness of
your presence, our world finds rest in you alone.
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
And the blessing of God almighty,
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Be with you, today and all the days to come. AMEN

Before you go away!
