The Lord is Risen!
He is Risen indeed! Alleluia!

Hymn: Jesus Christ is risen today

A Prayer for the day

Lord of life
We pray for all who bring your word of life
As a light to those in darkness
For those who bring your word of peace
To those enslaved by fear
For those who bring your word of love
To those in need of comfort
Lord of love and Lord of peace
Lord of resurrection life
Be known
Through our lives
and through your power.
Christ the Lord is risen to-day
Alleluia!

THE EASTER GOSPEL
according to St Matthew 28:1-10

Jesus Has Risen
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down
from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are
looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just
as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and
tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you
into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and
ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said.
They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus
said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to
Galilee; there they will see me.”

Hymn: Now the green blade riseth

REFLECTION

Prayer in time of crisis

Lord Jesus,
In the midst of a storm,
You said, ‘Peace be still.’
Bid our anxious fears subside,
Sustain your church in faith, hope and love,
Bring our nation, and our world through this tumult,
Grant wisdom to those with heavy responsibilities,
And healing and hope to those who are infected.
Amen.

Hymn:Thine be the glory

THE BLESSING

Christ was raised from the dead
by the glorious power of the Father.
Set out, then, on a new life with Christ….
and the Blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with us all.
AMEN

We have followed the services of Holy Week culminating in today's Easter Service.
The choice of readings and music throughout the week have been uplifting and the Reflections have been thoughtful and supportive at this difficult time.
Can we thank each and every one of the team who have put together this programme and we look forward to hearing John preach in the Old Parish Church when this is all over.
Best wishes to everyone. Mary and Drew

What a lovely, uplifting service and reflection. It was so good to hear the church bells and Sarah playing the organ and has warmed my heart. Thank you to all who have worked hard to put all this online and for keeping us connected till we can meet again. Best wishes to all.

How absolutely lovely to hear the bells, the reflection and the organ - hadn't realised just how much I had missed the organ music. It's just not the same without it.

Thank you all for putting this wonderful service together.
